THE RUNDOWNThe Landman cast did not walk the red carpet at tonight’s Emmys.Emmy voters snubbed the Paramount+ series, created by Taylor Sheridan. The show’s next season is set to drop in November 2025.Landman might have been one of the most popular series of late 2024—earning higher viewership ratings than any of the series nominated for Outstanding Drama at tonight’s Emmy Awards—but such impressive audience numbers didn’t seem to sway Emmy voters. The Paramount+ series, created by Yellowstone showrunner Taylor Sheridan, did not receive a single nomination ahead of tonight’s awards ceremony, which meant the cast was forced to skip the red carpet.Despite high-profile performances from actors including Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, Demi Moore, and Ali Larter, Landman is one of several Sheridan projects the Emmys has opted to ignore. None of the creator’s six eligible dramas cracked any of the major nomination categories this year. Although 1923 season 2 earned nods for production design and costumes (and Special Ops: Lioness and Tulsa King for best stunts), projects including Mayor of Kingstown, Landman, and Yellowstone itself were all shut out entirely.Still, that doesn’t seem to have phased Paramount+ as it speeds toward Landman’s next-season release date, November 16, which fans are already eagerly anticipating. In a January 2025 interview with ELLE, Larter shared her hopes that audiences would see more of her character, Angela, with Thornton’s character, Tommy. “I’ll take more scenes where we are in bed together, where we’re really talking. I think that connection—that unlikely love story—is something really interesting. We’re going to see, as the [next] season unfolds, that Angela’s going to be in a different place in her life again. I think that her priorities have changed, so you’ll see some of that unfolding.”In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Thornton also teased that season 2 will be more of a “slow burn.”“Now that the audience knows all the characters, [Sheridan] was able to really dive into the relationships more,” the actor explained. “Last season, we had to explain what this business was all about and who the people are. This season, he was able to really focus in the first few episodes on the family dynamic and the business dynamic. But this one really ramps up as it goes on, and there’s more and more intensity.”Related StoriesAli Larter Stakes Her Claim in LandmanEverything We Know About Landman Season 2
