Police have arrested the mastermind behind the acid-throwing incident that injured two women earlier this month at Middle and East Streets, Georgetown, and he has since confessed to his involvement in the crime. The suspect has been identified as 32-year-old driver Keron Daniels of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara.Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum confirmed that Daniels admitted to plotting the attack and is cooperating with investigators. He remains in custody as the investigation continues. The incident occurred on 3 September. The two victims are 23-year-old Jilicia Leitch and 20-year-old Nirmala Sukraj. The News Room was informed that investigations revealed Leitch was the target of the attack. She reportedly shared an intimate relationship with the mastermind. The relationship had ended, but despite this, Leitch reportedly continued to pursue Daniels. The News Room understands that during questioning, Daniels told investigators that ongoing tensions between him and Leitch led him to enlist the help of two men, including the prime suspect to “rough her up”.The prime suspect, however, suggested acid would be more effective. On the day of the incident, the News Room was told that Daniels dropped off his wife at Balwant Singh Hospital before picking up the prime and another masked man.He later supplied the getaway vehicle and even paid for a false licence plate to disguise it.Reports are that the prime suspect was the one who allegedly threw the acid on Leitch outside a city hospital, also injuring Sukraj in the process.Investigators are now actively pursuing the prime suspect in the matter.Police seek public’s help to identify acid attack suspectThe post Mastermind arrested, confesses to acid attack appeared first on News Room Guyana.
