Officials of the Medical and Health Department are gearing up for the launch of a fortnight-long campaign — “Swast Nari, Sashakt Pariwar Abhiyan” — from September 17 to October 2, aimed at strengthening healthcare services which cater to women and children, particularly in the rural areas.Speaking to the media here on Monday, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) D.T. Sudharani said that close to 600 health camps would be conducted across Chittoor district. The drive would see the participation of all primary and urban health centres, village clinics, community health centres, and area hospitals. The DM&HO said that the campaign would mainly focus on cancer and TB screening, anaemia detection, maternal and childcare, vaccinations, menstrual hygiene, and awareness on government schemes like ABHA ID, PMJAY and PMMVY. “The patients who require advanced diagnosis and medical treatment or surgeries will be referred to higher institutions,” Dr. Sudharani said.Published - September 15, 2025 06:58 pm IST
