‘We are going hard in Los Angeles today’: ICE L.A. commander given free rein by Supreme Court to terrorize all non-whites

Wait 5 sec.

If you’re not white, maybe stay off the streets of Los Angeles today. ICE is promising that they’re “going hard” and targeting citizens purely based on ethnicity. And yes, I’ll admit this sounds alarmist, but I’m simply repeating the words of ICE “Commander Op At Large CA” Gregory K. Bovino. This thug has just been let off the leash by the Supreme Court, which has ruled that ICE is allowed to indiscriminately harass civilians based on race alone. ICE has a daily quota of 3,000 arrests per day across the country, with individual officers under pressure to meet individual targets. That means that, as of today, there will be roving gangs of Trump’s goons cruising the streets with the legal power and financial motivation to snatch anyone who doesn’t pass the brown paper bag test. They don’t particularly care if you’re a legal citizen: if they merely suspect you’re in the country illegally, they will arrest you and worry about your confirming your legal status only after you’ve spent a few hours in a crowded cell. Punishing Los Angeles Bovino confirmed his plans on X in response to a comment on the Supreme Court’s decision, dismissing the “temp restranig [sic] order” as “the worst I’ve ever seen” and vowing: “We are going hard in Los Angeles today and are hitting a location as I write this”. Thank you, Hamad. Border Patrol has been doing this 101 years and quite frankly the poorly written ( very poorly) temp restrainig order was the worst i've ever seen. We are going hard in Los Angeles today and are hitting a location as I write this. Talk soon!! — Commander Op At Large CA Gregory K. Bovino (@CMDROpAtLargeCA) September 8, 2025 If you’re feeling scared after reading all this, congratulations, that’s the correct reaction. The Supreme Court authorizing barely-trained masked ICE agents to stop and search based on racial profiling alone is a truly nightmarish decision that tramples over Constitutional rights (which, incidentally, extend to all “persons” within the U.S. borders regardless of immigration status). This also effectively means that if you happen to annoy an ICE agent for whatever reason, they now have the power to detain you without having to give any justification. Maybe someone cuts you up in traffic, you give them the finger, they emerge from their car, announce they’re ICE, and that based on the color of your skin, you’re going to be spending the rest of the day in a nightmarish, stinking cell. And if you’re cheering this, just remember that the monster of authoritarianism will eventually run out of people you don’t like and come for you and your loved ones.
