Raheem Morris won’t be on the sideline for the Atlanta Falcons in 2026.In fact, he might not be on the sideline at all next season.Morris was fired by the Falcons despite winning the last four games of the seasonGettyMorris was the first head coach to fall on ‘Black Monday’ — and was fired by the Falcons just hours after the NFL regular season concluded last weekend.Atlanta were officially eliminated from playoff contention on December 7, but despite having nothing to play for, won their last four games. They ended 2025 with an 8-9 record and a 19-17 home win over the New Orleans Saints — in which star wide receiver Drake London made his frustrations clear.Had they picked up one more win across the season, the Falcons actually would have won the NFC South and made the postseason. Atlanta’s decision to fire Morris, who was hired in 2024, came as quite the surprise to many around the league. He is expected to be one of the top candidates available in a coaching cycle blown open by John Harbaugh, and has already interviewed with one team. But should he not land with another franchise, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport believes he could make the jump to TV instead.Recently-fired NFL coach tipped for career switch“Let’s talk about the coaching carousel. Raheem Morris, one of these surprising moves early in the week, fired by the Atlanta Falcons,” Rapoport told The Insiders on NFL Network this weekend.“Still has emerged, though, as a head coach candidate in a couple of places.“Interviewed with the New York Giants. That interview was in person because he’s not currently employed by a team.Morris has been told he has a future in TV if he doesn’t land another HC jobGetty“Also said to interview with the Tennessee Titans, among others, this week.“Now, my understanding is if Raheem Morris does not end up getting a head coaching job, he could end up joining us in TV.“He is a charismatic dude. He would be excellent at it.”What is next for Raheem Morris?Rapoport’s suggestion that Morris could swap the sideline for the studio will likely surprise many fans.Having already interviewed with the Giants, the 49-year-old will be confident of staying in the NFL, especially if he has other discussions lined up with the Titans too.Morris went 8-9 in Atlanta through both 2024 and 2025, and won four games while interim HC for the franchise back in 2020.Both Morris (L) and Mike McDaniel (R) are now looking for new teamsGettyHis previous experience as a head coach dates all the way back to 2009, when he was in charge of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from then until 2011. In Florida, he posted a 17-31 record. But while Morris’ preference will likely be to land with another team, he does have some experience in television. He has not worked as an analyst or broadcaster as yet, but has made some guest appearances on NFL Network over the years.A future in TV could be be on the cards one day, but Morris’ immediate focus will surely be on landing a HC job for next season.Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more.
