Makerere University Invites Diploma Holders to Apply for Government-Sponsored Degree Programmes for 2026/2027

Makerere University has officially opened applications for diploma holders seeking admission to undergraduate degree programs under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.The Academic Registrar’s Office announced that applicants must be holders of a relevant diploma and that this entry pathway is reserved for not more than 5% of the total intake capacity for eligible degree programs. To qualify, candidates are required to possess:A Credit or Second Class Diploma (or equivalent) from a recognised institution in a relevant field.A Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least five passes (or its equivalent).A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with a minimum of one principal pass and two subsidiary passes obtained in the same sitting (or equivalent qualifications). Applicants must pay a non-refundable application fee of UGX 55,000, excluding bank charges, using an Academic Management Information System (ACMIS) pay reference number at any bank utilised by the Uganda Revenue Authority. The completed system-generated application form, along with certified copies of diploma transcripts (not photocopies of certified copies) and a birth certificate, must be submitted to the Admissions Office located in Room 315, Level 3 of the Senate Building at Makerere University. Incomplete applications will not be processed.Prospective students are advised that they remain responsible for verification of their academic documents with the awarding institutions after admission.
