This was the second cancellation report in the case to be accepted by the court. An earlier closure report had been accepted on March 12 last year, which was later challenged by the complainant in the Solan district court in July 2025.The case was registered on the complaint of a 28-year-old woman, who alleged that she was raped by the two suspects at a hotel in Kasauli in Solan district in July 2023. However, the FIR was lodged at the Kasauli police station on December 13, 2024, nearly 17 months after the alleged incident.Police informed the court that the complainant failed to appear during the proceedings, following which the court accepted the closure report on Thursday. Police stated that no evidence could be collected to substantiate the allegations. The woman had alleged that she was forced to consume alcohol and sexually assaulted, and that compromising photographs and videos were taken. However, she refused to undergo a medical examination and the CCTV footage from the hotel was not available. The court also noted that the significant delay in reporting the incident raised doubts about the allegations. Further, the complainant’s friend, who was cited as an eyewitness, did not support the allegations and denied the incident in her statement before the court.According to sources, the victim’s employer, who had accompanied her to Kasauli, also did not corroborate her claims. In the absence of medical or corroborative evidence, the court accepted the cancellation report filed by the Station House Officer of Kasauli Police Station. Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Shimla
