A former Delhi BJP president, he’s been a Member of Parliament from the North East Delhi constituency since 2014. For those who’ve followed his career and campaigns closely, they wouldn’t forget the viral moment in which a confused Tiwari was seen asking his driver to head in the opposite direction during a road show.When Tiwari appeared as a guest on the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, host Kapil Sharma showed everyone that video clip and asked the politician in jest, “Did you sit in the opposition’s car or what?” Tiwari clarified, “This is a political game. It was the last day of my election campaign. I wanted to end the road show. He (the driver) started driving away in the opposite direction.”Manoj Tiwari recalled that after finishing his road show, he had to meet a member of opposition to discuss something important. But thanks to the driver and his sense of direction, the conclusion of Tiwari’s road show only got further delayed. “That is why I was scolding my driver and asking him to turn around. I was stressed that people would be waiting for me. So, I wanted to complete all the road shows assigned to me,” added the actor-politican. He said that wherever he goes, he’s always asked about the viral video. “This is called political artistry,” said Tiwari.Before he became a politician, Manoj Tiwari was best known for his singing and acting in the Bhojpuri film industry. In 2005, the BBC even reported that along with Ravi Kishan, Tiwari was the biggest star of Bhojpuri cinema. He also lent his voice to the memorable song “Jiya Tu Bihar Ke Lala” in Anurag Kashyap’s 2012 hit gangster saga Gangs of Wasseypur.
