Conservative Evangelical Christian leader accuses Vice President Vance of “playing both sides” on antisemitism, calls on him to draw a “clear line” on anti-Jewish bigotry and reject far-right influencers like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens.By World Israel News StaffVice President JD Vance is facing calls to take a clear stand on antisemitism and to distance himself from far-right online influencers including Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson.Last Tuesday, Vance was interviewed by conservative radio host Scott Jennings, who ended the segment with a question on right-wing antisemitism.“Does the conservative movement need to warehouse anybody out there espousing antisemitism in any way?” Jennings asked.“No, it doesn’t,” Vance responded, before making a broader statement on bigotry. “I think we need to reject all forms of ethnic hatred, whether it’s antisemitism, anti-black hatred, anti-white hatred.”Vance’s response drew accusations that he downplayed antisemitism in the US, weeks after he claimed that a negligibly small number of Americans are antisemitic, adding that most of what is portrayed as antisemitism is actually a “backlash” against American foreign policy.“Ninety-nine percent of Republicans, and I think probably 97% of Democrats, do not hate Jewish people for being Jewish. What is actually happening is that there is a real backlash to a consensus view in American foreign policy,” Vance said during an interview last month with UnHerd.Critics have ripped Vance for refusing to condemn far-right figures accused of antisemitism, including podcaster Tucker Carlson.Vance has repeatedly defended Carlson, a friend of the vice president, along with Carlson’s son, Buckley, who serves as an aide in Vance’s press office. On Thursday, Evangelical leader Laurie Cardoza-Moore, the president of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations, took aim at Vance for what she described as his inability to take “a moral, Christian stance on antisemitism.”In a statement issued in response to Vance’s interview with Jennings, Cardoza-Moore blasted Vance’s relationship with Carlson, whom she has repeatedly accused of antisemitism.“Tucker appears to have Vance in a trance,” Cardoza-Moore said. “It’s time for JD Vance to take a moral, Christian stand on antisemitism. There is no place for double talk on this matter.”“You don’t get to condemn hatred, while befriending the haters. This is not a time to turn the other cheek. The scourge of Jew-hatred must be banished from the conservative movement before it destroys it from within.”“Mr. Vice President, you invoked Christian teachings about judging people by their actions, yet you appear to be blindsided by the hatred and actions of people like your friend Tucker Carlson. A clear line needs to be drawn in the sand on what is and is not acceptable. This is not about canceling people; it’s about advocating for the Judeo-Christian values upon which our Republic was founded.”A supporter of President Donald Trump, Cardoza-Moore called on the White House to explicitly condemn “grifters and Jew-haters like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens and Nick Fuentes.”“Their views and content are an abomination to God and trample on our Constitution.”The post Evangelical leader demands Vance take ‘moral stand’ on antisemitism, cut ties with Tucker Carlson appeared first on World Israel News.
