Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Saturday (March 7, 2026) that Kerala remained a model for speedy trial and prosecution in cases related to criminal activities against women and children.The State has been able to punish the accused after completing the investigation and trial within 100 days of an incident, he said after inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of the Directorate of Prosecution.He said the police and the prosecution always remained vigilant against attempts by the accused to influence witnesses after getting out on bail. The State has 15 permanent POCSO courts and around 50 fast-track courts to expedite cases related to criminal activities against children. The government has appointed special public prosecutors in all these courts, he said.He said the government would start a ‘Prosecutors’ Academy’ to provide excellent training to prosecutors and to strengthen the prosecution mechanism. Nearly 25 cents have been allotted to the Directorate of Prosecution for the project, besides sanctioning funds for the construction of its headquarters building.Soumen Sen, Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, released the logo of the Directorate of Prosecution online.
