It can be. You have to try and find the lighthearted moments though, otherwise that shit will break you. Along with the endless beauracracy that is healthcare. Some residents are completely indigent, yes, and others might have very involved or semi-involved families. So some rooms/beds have a lot of personal belongings (especially if they're with us a long time - a couple of ladies I worked with were there for 20+ years). If a resident doesn't have funds (and usually they do in some capacity, even if it's just Medicare/Medicaid/SSI/SDI) then the facility will find clothes for them - we have a giant closet full of donations.
