The full-time whistle has blown in the Premier League match between Tottenham and Crystal Palace, and it’s time for our player ratings.Tottenham Hotspur managed to keep the second half at 0-0 after a disastrous first half, where they went into the break 3-1 down after a brace from Ismaila Sarr and a goal from Jorgen Strand Larsen cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s opener.Relegation looms large for Tottenham Hotspur in a massively concerning situation for supporters.Photo by Catherine Ivill – AMA/Getty ImagesLet’s take a look at how the individual players got on:Guglielmo Vicario – It was a difficult first half for the Italian, who should have reacted quicker for Palace’s third and come out to claim Adam Wharton’s cross. For the first two, though, he was well beaten. In the second half, he was barely called into action. 3.Pedro Porro – The Spaniard was used as a third centre-back in this one but had licence to go forward. In the second half that continued, with Porro often pushing into the final third despite the red card. He also continued to start attacks from deep with his long passes. 5.Kevin Danso – It was a tough first half for the Tottenham defence, which included Danso after conceding three. In the second half, he continued to offer some set-piece threat with his long throws. He came close to scoring a second for Tottenham early after the restart following a corner, but his header was straight at Henderson. He continued to get in a few key blocks and interceptions as the game went on. 4.Micky van de Ven – The centre-back let his side down in the first half following his poor decision to bring Ismaila Sarr down when he was through on goal, a clear denial of a goalscoring opportunity. 2.Souza – Got his first Premier League start tonight, but then picked up an early booking before van de Ven’s red card led to him being substituted as Igor Tudor made tactical changes. 5.Archie Gray – The teenager was a bright spark in the first half and it was his brilliant bit of play that saw him create space and assist Solanke. In the second forty-five, he continued to show fight and managed a few runs into the Palace box. 6.5.Joao Palhinha – His first-half role, where he was primarily in midfield and often dropped deep into defence when Porro pushed up, quickly changed following the red card. He was moved into a centre-back role, and that continued in the second half, with Palhinha helping marshal the backline. He managed a few shots from the edge of the Palace box in the second half but failed to hit the target. 4.Pape Matar Sarr – It was a mixed game for the Senegalese midfielder, who saw his pocket picked by Palace for their second in the game. In the second half it was a much better effort with fewer mistakes. He did prevent a certain Palace fourth late in the second half with a vital interception after Sarr’s cross made its way to the back post waiting for a Palace tap-in, having tracked back. 4.Mathys Tel – It was a bright opening to the game from Tel, who managed an early shot – the first on target for Tottenham. Throughout the encounter, he continued to show directness and willingness to start attacks quickly, and it almost paid off after Solanke came close following his quick restart from a throw-in in the second half. He also created a chance from a corner early in the second half for Danso, who headed straight at Henderson. 5.5.Dominic Solanke – The Englishman grabbed Tottenham’s first early in the first half with a neat tap-in. In the second half, he came close after a brilliant run from the left and a smart near-post effort, but it was well dealt with by Henderson. 5.5.Randal Kolo Muani – The centre-forward’s night was cut short because of van de Ven’s sending-off. He did show some hard work before then, popping up all over the pitch, but was also often sloppy with the ball. 4.SubstitutesConor Gallagher – He replaced Muani towards the closing stages of the first half and barely settled in. In the second half, though, he put in a good shift, contributing defensively and offensively, running the channels and chasing down every ball on the Tottenham right. 5.Yves Bissouma – The Malian came on and took on Palhinha’s role, shielding the back four and covering for Porro when he went forward. He kept his performance consistent in the second half. 5.Richarlison – The Brazilian replaced Solanke in the final 20 minutes of the game and never had a clear-cut chance to add to Tottenham’s tally. 5.Xavi Simons – He replaced Pedro Porro and went straight into the number 10 role, but had little time to influence proceedings. 5.The post Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace – No heart, no fight – relegation looms large appeared first on Spurs Web.
