I hate ketchup but this is a fair comment. I have tried Heinz and not branded and there is definitely a strong difference. My husband still buys the non branded though as our kids go through it and don't seem to care. Mayo on the other hand, plenty of non branded taste like the Heinz so not too fussed there!
