Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy urged farmers to focus on horticulture crops to get more income since conventional paddy cultivation is unable to make them to meet both ends in spite of hard work and investment.He said that the government is keen to promote horticulture clusters in the district with an aim to make farm activity lucrative for farmers. Speaking to The Hindu here, he said that the district administration appointed special teams with agriculture officials and scientists to create awareness among the farmers about hoticulture and precautions to be taken to get higher yield.He said that the initial response from farmers of Bhogapuram, Gajapathinagaram, Ramabhadrapuram, Bobbili and other areas was good after the completion of interactive sessions. According to him, fruit crops such as banana, papaya, mango, ornamental plants such as roses, marigold and jasmines would enable them farmers to get income quickly with lower investment. Mr. Ramsundar Reddy said that the government would provide marketing facility for marketing of vegetable crops with the support of the Marketing department.Published - March 07, 2026 03:02 pm IST
