The Dallas Stars have received some unwanted injury news after their shootout loss in last night's game to the Colorado Avalanche. The news is in regards to one of the star forwards for the Dallas based team, Roope Hintz. In the second period of the game, Hintz got tangled up with Colorado's Nathan McKinnon as the two were fighting for the puck. During the entanglement Hintz took an awkward slip causing a lower body injury that forced play to stop and him having to be assisted off the ice. The injury ultimately put Hintz out for the remainder of the game. Hintz had just returned to the lineup after an illness landed him on injured reserve, just as the NHL resumed regular-season play following the Winter Olympic break. It was reported today by Brien Rea of Victory+, that Roope Hintz will be out indefinitely as the forward still needs to see another doctor. This news is unsettling as Dallas is in a heated battle for the top spot in the Western Conference and the Central Division. Currently, they sit behind the Colorado Avalanche in the standings, with the Minnesota Wild close behind. The injury to one of their star players is just another setback they cannot afford. However, head coach Glen Gulutzan remains “hopeful” that Hintz will be available before the playoffs kickoff.
