The Criminal Court has described a note submitted by Yorgen Fenech as “almost a threat” to the court, after the murder suspect raised concerns that his right to a fair trial was being compromised.Fenech, accused of complicity in the 2017 car bomb assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, filed the note through his lawyers following the court’s dismissal of several defence requests for additional evidence. The court said many of these requests appeared aimed at delaying the proceedings.In the note, the businessman argued that the principle of equality of arms was not being upheld, warning that this could endanger his right to a fair hearing according to Times of Malta.During Wednesday’s sitting, Madam Justice Edwina Grima informed the prosecution of the note’s contents, describing it as “almost a threat” to the court.
