A total of 5,17,238 children under the age of five will receive oral polio drops across Hyderabad district during the pulse polio immunisation drive from October 12 to 15. The initiative is part of a nationwide campaign to prevent resurgence of the disease, with Hyderabad among six districts in Telangana where the special drive is being carried out.Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari during a meeting on Thursday said that there will be 2,843 polio booths set up across the district, operating from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children aged between 0 and 5 years will be administered the drops at these centres. To ensure full coverage, over 11,200 health personnel will conduct door-to-door visits from October 13 to 15.The Collector further added that the district administration has identified 164 high-risk areas that will receive special attention during the campaign.
