VIJAYAWADAThe Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reinforced its commitment to minority welfare in Andhra Pradesh with the appointment of Syed Basha as the State President of its Minority Morcha. The oath-taking ceremony was held on Thursday, with BJP National Minority Morcha President Jamal Siddiqui participating as the chief guest.Speaking at the event, Mr. Siddiqui highlighted the party’s inclusive vision under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasising the empowerment of minorities, especially—Muslim community, and women. He praised Mr. Basha for his dedication, integrity, and tireless work for the party. He added that that BJP prioritises merit and commitment over family background. He also acknowledged the contributions of former State Minority Morcha President Sheikh Baji in strengthening the party’s presence in the State.Mr. Siddiqui stressed the importance of minority women’s participation in governance and assured full support from the national leadership to Mr. Basha and the people of Andhra Pradesh. He reiterated that the BJP’s focus is on providing real representation and opportunities to marginalised communities, including Pasmanda Muslims (comprising of backward and Dalit caste), who make up a majority of the State’s Muslim population.Highlighting the development-focused welfare initiatives, Mr. Siddiqui cited Prime Minister Modi’s welfare schemes covering housing, education, entrepreneurship, women’s empowerment, and social infrastructure. He contrasted the BJP’s citizen-centric approach with the Opposition’s family-centred politics. He urged the Muslim community to join the BJP in pursuit of progress, respect, and representation.Mr. Basha, in his address, pledged to work relentlessly for the welfare of minorities. He asserted his commitment to ensure all government schemes reach intended beneficiaries. He expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility.
