(Image: Microsoft)Microsoft Copilot is getting a new feature for Windows that allows the AI assistant to link with and search across users’ personal and third-party cloud services. This rollout has begun for Windows Insiders, marking a step toward making Copilot a more comprehensive tool for managing digital content. The core of this update lies in its ability to bridge data silos. Users can now optionally connect services like OneDrive, Outlook (including email, contacts, and calendar), Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts with Copilot on Windows. This connectivity is designed to simplify how people locate information spread across multiple platforms and accounts. With these new connections active, Copilot can respond to natural language queries by pulling relevant data from the linked services. For instance, a user could ask, “What’s the email address for Sarah?” or “Find my school notes from last week,” and Copilot will retrieve the necessary details from the connected Microsoft and Google accounts. This opt-in feature requires users to grant access through the Settings page within the Copilot Windows app, specifically in the Connectors section.Beyond just searching, the update dramatically improves Copilot’s ability to create and export files. The application now supports document creation and export into various standard formats directly from a conversation. Users can prompt Copilot to generate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, or PowerPoint presentations. This feature eliminates the need to manually copy and paste text into separate applications. A simple command, such as “Export this text to a Word document” or “Create an Excel file from this table,” immediately converts the AI-generated content into a fully editable and shareable file. For longer responses – specifically those with 600 characters or more – a default export button also appears, offering a quick way to send text directly to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF.This substantial update, under version 1.25095.161.0 and higher, is being gradually pushed out via the Microsoft Store to all Insider Channels. Microsoft is utilising the Insider feedback process to refine these new capabilities, ensuring a smooth and effective deployment for all Windows users eventually.© IE Online Media Services Pvt LtdTags:microsoft
