He also spoke to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the matter.In a letter to Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, he said the death of the officer signals continued “caste oppression” in the administrative system. It is spread in the system like poison, the minister wrote. The Dalit leader also spoke to Saini and called up the officer’s wife to offer condolences.The Congress party, meanwhile, claimed that crimes against Dalits and other weaker sections are on the rise under the BJP government.Citing the latest NCRB report, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said between 2013 and 2023, there was a 46% increase in crimes against Dalits and that crimes against Adivasis rose by 91% during the period, while former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi said Kumar’s suicide is a symbol of that deepening social poison which is crushing humanity in the name of caste.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
