He also reportedly admitted to his involvement in earlier firing incidents, including one in 2024 in which a man named Wasi had sustained a bullet injury.A man wanted for allegedly killing his friend at a jungle in Meerut last week was arrested in a shootout with the police in Rohini early Thursday.The accused, identified as Hamza, is the main perpetrator in the murder of Adil, who was killed in Meerut on October 1. According to police, a love affair gone wrong could have led to the incident.Police said Adil was taken to a jungle near his house by his friends where he was shot thrice in the chest from close range with a pistol. After shooting him in the head, Hamza allegedly made a 12-second video of his accomplice shooting Adil in the chest and uploaded it on social media.An FIR into the murder was registered at Lohiya Nagar police station in Meerut. While one of the accused, Zulkamar (19), was arrested October 4, Hamza was absconding.Police intercepted Hamza near a Delhi Jal Board building in Rohini following a tip-off received by Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Crime Branch. “Around midnight, he was spotted riding a scooter near the DJB building. When the police team tried to intercept him, he tried to flee but his scooter slipped,” DCP (ANTF, Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said.In a desperate bid to flee, he opened fire at the police team, who fired in retaliation. Hamza received a gunshot injury to his leg and was subsequently arrested, the DCP said. His scooter was seized, which was found to be stolen from Rani Bagh police station, said police.During questioning, Hamza admitted that he, along with his associates, had murdered Adil.
