Britain’s Health Minister says the NHS has failed to protect Jews from bigoted healthcare providers in the sharpest indictment yet from a senior government official.By World Israel News StaffBritain’s National Health Service (NHS) has failed to ensure that the country’s Jewish population is protected from bigoted healthcare providers, the country’s health minister warned, lamenting that the agency has failed to live up to its mandate of providing universal healthcare coverage. On Monday, a day before the second anniversary of the October 7th massacres and just days after a Muslim terrorist attacked Jews outside of a synagogue on Yom Kippur, Health Minister Wes Streeting spoke with The Times, lamenting what he said was the failure of the NHS to ensure that all British citizens receive healthcare, regardless of race or religion.“The NHS is a universal health service, which means that everyone, regardless of race, religion or creed, should feel safe seeking its care. I deplore the fact that this is frankly not the current reality for many Jewish patients and staff, and I am determined to change this for once and for all,” Streeting said.Since 2023, the NHS has faced multiple high-profile cases of antisemitism, tarnishing the image of Britain’s public healthcare system.Last December, a number of Jewish medical staffers reported facing regular antisemitic harassment from coworkers since October 2023.This September, a north London pediatrician, Dr. Ellen Kriesels, came under fire after she posted a series of antisemitic and pro-Hamas social media posts.Hamas, Kriesels wrote, are “not terrorists,” rather they are “freedom fighters,” and lamented the killing of Hamas members.“They should not have been killed either. Do not inadvertently white wash the murder of Hamas members. They are a political party and oppressed resistence fighters. NOT terrorists.”At the same time, Kriesels accused Jews of “feelings of superiority.”“Virtually every Jew has some feelings of supremacy (result of their Zionist upbringing) and they might oppose Zionism, but they are not going to challenge their precious community.”While Kriesels was suspended last month over her comments, Rahmeh Aladwan, a junior NHS doctor, remains in her position despite making “slit your throat” gestures towards Jewish demonstrators, justifying anti-Jewish terrorism, denying atrocities committed on October 7th, and claiming that “Israelis are worse than Nazis.”In a separate case, the NHS reinstated Dr. Rehiana Ali, after she was suspended for blaming the 2001 terror attacks in the US on Israel, lauding October 7th mastermind Yahya Sinwar as a “legend,” and calling for Israel to be “dismantled.”According to a report in July by the Jewish News, some 500 formal complaints regarding antisemitism linked to 123 different NHS doctors were submitted to the General Medical Council. However, 84% were closed in the triage stage, the report found.Streeting said that thus far, Britain’s healthcare regulators had failed to protect Jewish patients and staff.“It is clear that the current medical regulatory system is completely failing to protect Jewish patients and NHS staff. I am looking urgently at how we can overhaul the current regime, which has been found completely wanting.”The post Britain is failing to protect Jews from ‘racist doctors,’ minister warns appeared first on World Israel News.
