Rajendra Patil will be the nominee of the Jolle-Jarkiholi panel in the elections to the board of directors of the Belagavi District Central Cooperative (BDCC) Bank, MLA Balachandra Jarkiholi announced on Tuesday, the day when the former chairman of the bank Ramesh Katti filed his nomination papers from Hukkeri constituency.Ramesh Katti also said that he is not part of any panel but is contesting as an individual.Candidates of the two panels led by the former MP Anna Saheb Jolle and the Jarkiholi brothers and Ramesh Katti and A.B. Patil fought bitterly in the recently concluded Rural Electric Cooperative Society elections in Hukkeri.Balachandra Jarkiholi told a meeting of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society members that he is trying to ensure that most of the 18 seats will be elected uncontested.“We are trying to find a consensus among various leaders in the taluks and avoid polling as much as possible. However, we are confident of winning at least 12,” he said.Balachandra Jarkiholi asked the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society members not to worry about the results of the Hukkeri society. “No one should lose courage over such developments. Our world will not sink due to just one defeat. With the blessings of farmers, we are confident of winning the DCC Bank polls,” he said.“Once elected, we aim to establish more cooperative societies in Hukkeri and Yamakanamradi constituencies as per the request of farmers.
