The National Lawyers Forum for Social Justice condemned the attack on Chief Justice of India B. R. Gavai by advocate Rakesh Kishore.Advocates led by the Forum took out a rally in Kurnool on Tuesday (October 07) protesting the attack on the CJI. Addressing the rally, forum president Y. Jaya Raju said the attack is a blot on the legal profession, and every practicing advocate hangs their head in shame on knowing that a member of the Bar indulged in such a heinous act. “We express our deep shock, outrage, and denounce the willful and intentional act of the advocate raising communal slogans in the Open Court, bringing disrepute to the entire legal fraternity,” he said.Mr. Jaya Raju appreciated the dignified response of the CJI and the composure with which he continued court proceedings unfazed by the act.“This act is nothing but an attack on the entire judiciary, which is entrusted with the solemn duty of upholding the Constitution, rule of Law and the people’s fundamental rights,” he said and suspected that there are anti-Constitutional and communal hegemonic forces behind this entire episode.
