Your plans may get derailed this weekend.Credit: Joe Schlabotnik, FlickrThe Walt Disney World Resort is heading toward its busiest time of the year. As Halloween celebrations continue, guests will soon descend on the Central Florida theme parks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year. Notoriously known for being packed during the holidays, with even costly offerings like the Lightning Lane passes selling out on consecutive days, Disney World guests brace everything for their dose of the Mouse–even the weather. The Florida coastline continues to experience turbulent weather due to tropical activity in the Atlantic, but looking ahead, guests heading to the theme parks of Central Florida may also have their plans derailed.“A cold front is expected to push through Central Florida late Friday and into Saturday morning, bringing scattered showers,” Click Orlando reported this week. “Behind the front, cooler and drier air starts to move in, with highs staying in the low 80s and morning temps in the upper 60s to low 70s.”Credit: DisneyThe report added that the season will soon make a “noticeable entrance”: “Fall finally makes a more noticeable entrance. A drier, more comfortable airmass settles in, keeping rain chances low. Mornings feel cooler with widespread 60s, and afternoon highs hover in the low 80s.”It is not uncommon for the Sunshine State to feature cold fronts. In fact, last year and earlier in 2025, Florida experienced an arctic chill that shut down Disney World’s water park on numerous extended occasions. While Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is listed as opening this weekend, it is always worth checking if the operating hours are confirmed closer to your visit. While there are no confirmed plans for Blizzard Beach’s reopening, it can be expected in early 2026. Recent information confirmed that Typhoon Lagoon would be open in the summer next year, as the park is taking part in the Moonlight Magic perk for Disney Vacation Club members. The first night is confirmed for June 25, 2026, meaning if Typhoon Lagoon does close in the coming months, it will have to reopen by late June.Credit: DisneyThat said, there is always the chance that Disney will open both water parks like they did this past summer, marking a momentous occasion for the Walt Disney World Resort. How do you navigate the Walt Disney World Resort during the cooler months?
