I’m Soon Showing You My Husband, Joyce Bagala Assures Mityana Voters as Bobi Wine De-campaigns Katuntu, Basalirwa

By Mulengera ReportersDuring a weekend public event in Richard Lumu’s Mityana South constituency, Mityana district Woman MP Joyce Bagala was unexpectedly challenged by a group of community women in the audience to clarify on her marital status. Is she single or married? Who is she seeing? In her response, Bagala, wearing her characteristic infectious smile, assured she is indeed seeing someone. “The short answer to that question is yes. Definitely, there is someone in my life and I will be purposefully introducing him to you very soon. You are right to ask about that and you will get to know him pretty soon,” assured Bagala in a speech which she dedicated to praising her political ally Richard Lumu while imploring area residents to vote him back to Parliament. She also cautioned them to vote her back as their Woman MP because only her can manage, unlike the NUP flag bearer Proscovia Mukisa aka Nabossa who she said is new and isn’t adequately known to many people in the constituency. Without mentioning her name directly, Bagala predicted that the NUP flag bearer will not have much to tell voters beyond things like “I’m the one the Principal and other leaders at Kavule have sent.” Bagala predicted that Mityana voters will end up regretting, should they disregard her and elect such a person merely because she has been imposed on them by external forces.Meanwhile, while campaigning in the Busoga districts of Bugiri and Bugweri days earlier, Bobi Wine urged voters in the Kyabazinga-land to do him a favour and avoid voting back Abdul Katuntu (of Bugweri) and former ally Asuman Basalirwa (of Bugiri Municipality) to Parliament. The NUP Presidential Candidate, whose large crowds must have made Musevenists sleepless, made it clear that, whereas many voters can easily be confused to construe them as continuing to be part of the opposition cause, the two big-name lawyers switched sides long time ago-to begin fraternizing with Gen Museveni who he repeatedly referred to as the oppressor. He introduced his own NUP flag bearers who he directed voters to elect and not the Basalirwa-Katuntu duo who he dismissed as political deal-makers in Kampala. There are growing fears that the two political giants will predictably be fight back and when they do, Mr. Wine will politically be diminished in some way.The Principal’s unprovoked attack on the two in their respect constituencies could help enlarge the anti-NUP coalition, which already has conspicuous existence in Buganda where the likes of Mathias Mpuuga, Medard Segona, Moses Kasibante, Abed Bwanika and a few others have already been standing up to Mr. Wine, while calling out his chauvinistic tendences.
