**Schumer Shutdown Day 8**On October 1 at 12:01 am, the government partially shut down because two measures failed in the Senate. The measures to reopen the government failed again on Wednesday morning. The House passed a clean, short-term stopgap funding bill to keep the government open. Schumer rejected it.Instead of working with Republicans to responsibly extend funding until November, Schumer chose a shutdown.Airports went dark this week because Schumer’s priority is to give illegal aliens taxpayer-funded healthcare. The FAA warned that Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, Nashville, Houston and Las Vegas will experience Air Traffic Control shortages because of Schumer and the Democrats.BREAKING: The FAA warns of nationwide disruptions Tuesday night as staffing shortages hit major control centers in Chicago, Nashville, Houston, and Las Vegas. pic.twitter.com/Ifccx4PfEP— Fox News (@FoxNews) October 7, 2025 After taking a break on Tuesday, the Senate voted on dueling proposals to fund the government on Wednesday. The Senate voted for the sixth time to fund the government and once again both proposals failed. The Democrat-backed proposal – which funds healthcare for illegal aliens – failed in a 47-52 vote. The Republican proposal also failed to get the 60 votes needed. The Dems blocked the GOP bill in a 54-45 vote.GOP Senator Rand Paul voted with the Democrats to block the GOP-backed proposal. The House is currently out of session. No end in sight for shutdown as Senate remains at a standoff and House is out of session. For the sixth time, Dems block GOP bill to reopen govt, 54-45Same three Ds vote yes — King, Cortez Masto, Fetterman.
