It doesn’t matter if you’re a number one overall pick, a Pro-Bowl safety, a third-year head coach, first-year assistant, it doesn’t matter.“We have to do a better job to close out games.”Fans online were sympathetic with Gannon, who has seen the Cardinals become the first team since 1970 to lose three-straight games on game-winning field goals.“Well I can’t even imagine being a coach and one of my players doing this after it keeps happening in college and NFL over and over,” one user wrote on X.“One of the most embarrassing losses I’ve seen in a long time,” another user wrote. After a horror 0-4 start, Cam Ward and the Titans picked up their first win of the seasonGettyGannon apologizes, says he ‘doesn’t feel great’On Monday, Gannon was asked about the exchange.“I didn’t see the video,” Gannon told reporters. “But, yeah, I actually — I woke up this morning and didn’t feel great about it, honestly. And so in a team meeting, I addressed it. I apologized to Emari, I apologized to the team. And I just told him I kind of let the moment of what happened get the better of me there.“Obviously, like, I I try to be emotionally stable and calm, because my job is to solve problems . . . during a game — and kind of lead the charge on that. So it’s not really who I am, who I want to be, and I told the guys that today. So it’s a mistake by me, and it’s just like everybody in there. Everybody made some type of mistake yesterday, which is, you know, culminates to why we didn’t win the game. And we can’t let it happen and move forward.”Demercado issues response after error and Gannon incidentDemercado didn’t hide from the media after his costly blunder as he took accountability for the loss.“I just made a mistake,” Demercado said.“There’s really no excuse. Just let the ball go. Obviously emotional, big play, but I just got to be smarter.”Offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. went over to console Demercado right after the fumble at the goal line: “I wanted to be one of the first people to find him on the sideline…Make sure he’s not catching looks and stares and people mumbling…I didn’t want him to hear any of that,” Johnson Jr said after the game.$230 million quarterback Kyle Murray was also stunned by his teammate’s mistake.“I don’t really know what to think about that,” Murray said.“I don’t even know. I really don’t even know. That’s ‘How to Lose a Game 101.’ I don’t know. It was crazy.”“I know his character. I know his IQ of the game. And never in a million years would I think that Emari would do that. But obviously we all make mistakes.“I just think if you look at the mistakes, I think we played well enough to win the game, but crucial, bonehead mistakes just gave them a chance to stay in the game.”Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more.
