The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the ‘Good Samaritan’ initiative to reward citizens who help road accident victims reach hospitals within the “golden hour.” Helpers, called ‘Raah-Veer,’ will receive a certificate and ₹25,000 per incident. The scheme, verified by police and hospitals, aims to reduce the state’s high road fatalities—22,532 in 2023—and encourage prompt assistance during emergencies.
