One Tottenham star admits that he is enjoying the new role he has been asked to play since Thomas Frank arrived at the club.Even though Tottenham ended up winning the Europa League last season, which was the club’s first piece of silverware in 17 years, very few Spurs players can be proud of the campaign they had individually. The Tottenham squad was ravaged by injuries, while many of the club’s key stars failed to perform with any consistency over the course of the season. However, one man who exceeded all expectations in his first season at the club was Lucas Bergvall, who ended up sweeping all of Tottenham’s end-of-season awards.Credit: @thefrederikkejensen / InstagramLucas Bergvall is delighted with his new role at TottenhamAround two weeks ago, Bergvall admitted that he is now playing more as a number ten than a number eight, and is thus having to learn to adapt his game. The 19-year-old has spoken about that change in role during his conversations with the media in Sweden, revealing that he is enjoying playing as the most advanced midfielder.Speaking to Dagens Nyheter (as relayed by Sport Witness), the Tottenham star said: “I’m comfortable with most of the roles in midfield. I’ve been playing more offensively lately, and that’s where I feel best right now.”When asked about trying to force himself into the Swedish starting eleven, Bergvall responded: “Sometimes you play and sometimes you sit on the bench. It’s not something I’m trying to focus on a lot right now. Now it’s a new group and new opportunities, and we’re going to make it to the World Cup.”Bergvall reveals what the Sweden manager wants him to doThe teenager has also revealed that his national team boss, Jon Dahl Tomasson, wants him to play a similar role for his side as he does at Tottenham. The outlet states that Tomasson has spoken publicly about asking the teenager to make more ‘vertical passes’.When pressed on those comments, Bergvall said: “It’s not something I really want to go into, but we have a good dialogue and we talk before and after training sessions about what I should continue to do at Tottenham and what I can continue to contribute when I get the chance in the national team.“That’s what I’ve said now: to continue doing what I’ve done at Tottenham with my forward runs and getting into the box and being able to contribute there.”READ MORE: Rodrigo Bentancur reveals why he is so happy to stay at Tottenham for the long-haulThe post Tottenham star is delighted with his new role under Thomas Frank this season appeared first on Spurs Web.
