One UI 8.5 adds subtle new animation to Always On Display

Samsung is developing One UI 8.5 for Galaxy smartphones and tablets, and a few days ago, the new software leaked for the Galaxy S25. Since then, people have been digging into it to find new features. Now, a new one has been discovered, and it shows that the brand pays a lot of attention to detail.On X, @UniverseIce has posted a video about One UI 8.5. It shows that when the phone is locked and you double-tap on the always-on display (AOD) lock screen to wake the device up, the animation showing that the phone is now active, starts from the point where you tapped on the display.  Similarly, when you double-tap on the screen to put the phone to sleep, the animation showing that the phone is now inactive, ends at the point where you tapped on the display. That’s a great attention to detail, something that Samsung fans will love to show off, especially to Apple enthusiasts.Samsung is expected to debut One UI 8.5 with the Galaxy S26 series in February 2026.
