The Google Messages app is the default text messaging app on countless Samsung phones. Google has been improving the safety features of this app to ensure that users are not exposed to unwanted explicit content. It has rolled out an update that ensures any videos sent in Messages that contain nudity are flagged, so that users are warned before they open something they wouldn't want to see.Make sure you have this feature enabledThis comes as a further improvement to Google's Sensitive Content Warnings system. This protection was previously applied only to images, whereby any incoming images that had nudity would be flagged with an appropriate warning label. This feature has to be enabled first, though. Tap on your profile in the app and open the Manage sensitive content warnings menu in the settings section.Google Messages will now also analyze videos and if they're found to contain any nudity, it will display the appropriate warnings to make sure you don't open the video. This feature has been enabled through the October 2025 Play Services update that the company started sending out yesterday. The release notes mention that the Sensitive Content Warnings feature now detects explicit nude media in shared videos. The feature automatically scans both sent and received messages, whether photo or video, for explicit nudity. The media is scanned on-device so none of it is uploaded anywhere for processing. Once nudity is detected, the incoming messages are blurred and they can be deleted without viewing. Those who are sending such messages will be reminded of the risks of sharing explicit content, and they must confirm to continue sending.
