Apple's recently launched iPhone 17 lineup has sparked discussion among camera enthusiasts. One feature that has received particular praise is its 18MP front-facing camera, which uses a unique sensor. However, we were curious to know how the rest of the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s cameras compare to those of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. To find out, we did a head-to-head camera comparison of both the phones.Galaxy S25 Ultra vs iPhone 17 Pro Max: Cameras comparedThe iPhone 17 Pro Max has three 48MP rear cameras—ultra-wide, wide-angle, and telephoto (4x optical zoom)—for consistency. On the front, it uses a groundbreaking square format camera sensor that can capture images and videos in any orientation, regardless of the phone's orientation. It gives you a lot of flexibility in terms of holding the phone. The Galaxy S25 Ultra has a 200MP primary rear camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with a 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP telephoto camera with a 5x optical zoom. It also has a 12MP front-facing camera with autofocus. While none of the cameras have a clear advantage over the others, there are a few things each one does better. From what we've noticed, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a definitive edge in the front-facing camera. It also generally performs better in scenes with a person in the foreground and a strongly lit background. Samsung seems to do better in terms of colours where there is no person in the scene.Apple has the edge when it comes to fast-motion scenes, reducing motion blur to a minimum. While Samsung has improved in this area compared to last year, it still needs further refinement to capture sharper shots of children and pets. Additionally, Samsung also needs to enhance the colours and dynamic range in portrait mode videos. While some people might suggest the comparison is one-sided, Samsung clearly excels in certain situations, such as macro and tele macro photography, dual video recording, and 8K videos. It still definitely has its work cut out for the next flagship phone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The post Galaxy S25 Ultra vs iPhone 17 Pro Max cameras: Who does it better? appeared first on SamMobile.
