Travis Hunter tasted primetime victory for the first time on Monday night. The Jacksonville Jaguars rookie, who is the NFL’s most exciting two-way star, had a standout moment on offense in the 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.Jaguars star Hunter caught the eye in a huge win against the ChiefsGettyHe made one of his biggest catches to date as a receiver, hauling in a Trevor Lawrence pass over two defenders for a 44-yard gain in the third quarter. The play gave Jacksonville great field position, and a drive that started on their own 13-yard line ended with $275 million QB Lawrence scrambing into the endzone to square the game. All in all, Hunter caught three passes for 64 yards on a solid night.Eli Manning reveals shocking Travis Hunter secretHis offensive effort was highlighted during Manningcast, when legendary quarterback Eli Manning let slip a ‘secret’ about his college days at Colorado.“If you guys are coaching Travis Hunter, what is the percentage of where you’re putting him on offense and defense?” actor Glen Powell, who was making a guest appearance on the show, asked.Peyton Manning then told Eli to reveal what Jaguars head coach Liam Coen had ‘told him’ about the two-way star.“Yeah, I talked to Liam Coen,” Eli began.“When he was at Colorado, he practised zero with the offense. He only practised defense.“They had a special system, where the coaches would signal the formation to him, and signal the route to him. You know, just improvised. Go out there and wing it.“He’s still learning, right now, to be a receiver.”Hunter plays both sides of the ball, but it has been claimed he didn’t practise offenseGettyManning’s claim sounds pretty outrageous, given Hunter’s Heisman Trophy winning exploits at Colorado, and the fact he has played on offense and defense with the Jaguars.Under the guidance of Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, the WR/CB averaged 113.5 snaps per game in his junior year.Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as he led Colorado alongside quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and played 86.8 percent of the team’s offensive snaps in 2024.Given all he achieved, and the start he has made to life in the NFL, for Manning to suggest he wasn’t practicing with the offense is rather odd. He was, of course, just relaying what Coen had told him. Still, fans were quick to call out the apparent claim.NFL icon slammed for Travis Hunter claim“I’m glad Eli Manning publicly said this because it shows how they’re colluding against Coach Prime & lying on his boys. They’re lying about Travis not practising receiver, with three years of footage to prove otherwise,” one fan said on X.Manning claimed Jags HC Coen had told him about Hunter’s college daysX: @OmahaProdFans shared footage showing Hunter playing offense in practice with the BuffaloesX@change7he68182“That’s definitely not true… tons of videos with him practicing offense,” another wrote.“He’s saying this like there isn’t footage of Trav practicing on offense on YouTube for everybody to see,” a third said.“That’s a lie… there’s literally clips of Shedeur and him at practice talking about his routes,” a fourth added.“Lying like that is crazy,” a fifth concluded.NFL's Greatest......Ranking the top 10......Quarterbacks of all-time – Can anyone better Tom Brady?Wide receivers of all-time – Does Randy Moss or Jerry Rice come out on top?Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and moreTight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?Hunter reacts to MNF win against ChiefsWhile Manning made headlines as he followed Hunter’s exploits against Kansas City, the rookie commanded plenty of attention of his own.The two-way star had his best outing yet in the NFL, adding two tackles on defense in a game that he also briefly exited with a lower-body injury.Hunter returned for the fourth quarter, and afterwards, discussed a dramatic win that took Jacksonville to 4-1. He even referenced putting in extra time on the practice field to ensure he was in a position to make his eye-catching 44-yard pass.Hunter revealed after the Chiefs win that he has been putting in extra time in practiceGetty“We just work hard on that play in practice,” the rookie revealed.“I did that route probably like 10, 13 extra times after practice just to get the timing right, and we did what we had to do when it was time.”Hunter also praised the Jaguars fans who showed up for his primetime debut.“It was my first Monday night game, and I was excited to have the whole city come out and all the fans come out and just show their support and just be with us through the win,” he added. The Jaguars next face the 3-2 Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more.
