Khamba has recently launched his own podcast, where he talks about various topics with his wife, actor Ismeet Kohli. Years ago, when he was a part of the now-defunct comedy collective AIB, he filmed an hour-long interview with SRK that remains popular to this day. In his new podcast, he said that celebrities would be innately comfortable around him and his former colleagues, as it was obvious they weren’t going to conduct a conventional interview with them. This resulted in moments that continue to be shared on social media to this day.Ismeet asked him about his experience working with the late Irrfan Khan, with whom he worked on the never-released Prime Video show Gormint. He said that they shot the SRK podcast at around the same time as he was visiting Irrfan’s house regularly, and that something he said about the luxuries available at Mannat seemed to trigger Irrfan into thinking that he wasn’t being just as gracious a host. Khamba said that everything people say about SRK’s grace and hospitality is ‘100%’ true, as he recalled some of the luxuries inside Mannat. Also read – When Mannat was Villa Vienna: The story of SRK’s home and other heritage bungalows of Bandra BandstandHe said, “When we went to Mannat, there is almost like a 24-hour kitchen, where you go, and there is a tray that is wheeled in with drinks and food. The North Indian in me was very happy instantly, and Shah Rukh sir is also a very finger food type person. Stuff is there and you just keep eating. Two things I’ll say about Shah Rukh: one thing is when he has a book in his library, you know he has read it, unlike a lot of other actors who keep books to pretend to look intelligent. Trust me, I know most of these people, and nobody is stepping into these libraries. Secondly, when we went to Shah Rukh sir’s house, there are constant snacks. During this time, I used to also keep going to Irrfan sir’s house, and he would put out some nuts and nimbu paani. One day, to pull his leg, I said, ‘Sir, hum Shah Rukh sir ke ghar gaye they, wahan to mast snacks wagerah aata hai.” Khamba said that Irrfan immediately became conscious, and started asking him what he’d like to eat. “It was cute. After that, Sutapa ma’am would always ask me if I wanted something else to eat,” he said. Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat is a Mumbai landmark.Recently, actor Raghav Juyal has also spoken about visiting Mannat, during the making of Aryan Khan’s show, The Ba***ds of Bollywood. He said, “Mannat has a very gharelu mahaul and the one thing that I like the most about it is that it is the only house in Bandra where they speak both Hindi and Urdu. Gauri mam would first ask us, ‘Pehle khana kha lo (Eat first).’ They are such big people, but they are still worried about me having food on time. These are the things that happen in normal households. Mannat has 5-star chefs and they have seven-course meal type of thing but even in that environment Gauri ma’am is like ‘Khana kha lo waste ho jayega (Eat the food otherwise it will go to waste).’ They care about simple things. These are basic, respectful things.”In another interview with NDTV, Raghav recalled asking Aryan where his room is, and realising that in Mannat, everybody has a floor to themselves. “The first time I entered Mannat, there was a scanner like the ones at the airport,” Raghav recalled, adding, “By mistake, I asked Aryan which was his room. Then I realised, this is Shah Rukh Khan’s house — you don’t have rooms here, you have full floors. Aryan just laughed and said, ‘Come, let’s go up.’ We sat there and jammed, and later went out for dinner with his friends.”Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
