A romantic film helmed by director Mohit Suri, who was just coming off a rough patch in his career, blew all its competition out of the water mercilessly. Led by two newcomers in Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film’s worldwide collection was Rs 569 crore at the end of its theatrical run. Now Mohit has revealed in a recent interaction that he is planning to meet up with YRF and Aditya Chopra once again for a new project. While talking to Rajeev Masand at the FICCI Frames event, Mohit pointed out the kind of atmosphere he was given at YRF, the kind of atmosphere which helped him curate the best possible experience for the audience. He said, They never put the pressure on me to make a successful film. They just said, ‘Make your best film with us.’ I have to thank Adi Sir and Akshaye Widhani. Taking that burden off me of trying to make a blockbuster was great. I never expected it to do so well, but I obviously love the collection that has come with it, because it validates the whole thing.”ALSO READ: ‘I heard Raveena Tandon was considered for my role’: Monika Panwar on experimenting with Nishaanchi and working with Anurag KashyapHe recalled a meeting with Aditya and producer Akshaye Widhani during the post-production of Saiyaara and said, “When they saw the rough edit of the film, which was very bad and was more than three hours long, I remember that Adi was still very confident. He said, ‘Even if this film opens with Rs 5 crore, it is going to do Rs 100 crore.’ He had liked the film so much even at that stage, so it meant that something had worked in the film. Aashiqui 2 got this kind of love, and I never planned for this to happen, but it did.”Mohit discussed his future plans and shared that, “We (he and YRF) are planning to make a film together again. When I met them again, I said that newer and different people are coming up to me and telling me that they liked the film. I have never had 60-year-old aunties come up to me and say, ‘Beta jeeta raho, bohot achi picture banayi‘ (Long live son. You made a great film.) I know the guy who gets up and beats his chest, but this was a new audience for me.”All in all, Saiyaara propelled the debutant Ahaan and sophomore Aneet to astronomical levels, and the film managed to hold its own and do more while duking it out with Superman, Son of Sardaar 2, and Jurassic World Rebirth all at the same time.Click here to follow Screen Digital on YouTube and stay updated with the latest from the world of cinema.© IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
