Qualcomm recently unveiled its latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and the company confirmed that Samsung will use the chip in its devices as well. This raises the expectation that the latest Snapdragon process might appear on some models of the Galaxy S26 series. A new report indicates that there may be an unreleased version of the chip that Samsung will make and likely use in next year's Galaxy Z Flip 8. More clarity likely to emerge in a few monthsQualcomm typically offers a slightly overclocked version of its flagship chipset to Samsung which is branded as the “for Galaxy” iteration. It was rumored earlier that this iteration would be used for the Galaxy S26 series and that it would be manufactured by Samsung. It was confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is being manufactured on TSMC's 3nm process when the chipset was announced. Even if the chipset is used for the Galaxy S26 series, it's unlikely that Samsung will handle any manufacturing. Korean media is reporting that there's another iteration of the chipset that Samsung has manufactured on its 2nm GAA process. The company has reportedly supplied samples to Qualcomm and based on the latter's evaluation, it may be cleared for use in Samsung's next-generation foldable phone.Samsung has been working diligently to improve the yields of its 2nm process. The company's next-gen chipset, the Exynos 2600, will be manufactured on its 2nm GAA process and it's expected to feature prominently in the Galaxy S26 series. If Samsung is able to demonstrate solid yields for its 2nm process, the chances exist that it may secure a manufacturing contract from Qualcomm for the 2nm iteration of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. If the company intends to move the Galaxy Z Flip 8 to Snapdragon from Exynos on the Galaxy Z Flip 7, then it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that this same chipset may also be used for the Galaxy Z Fold 8.The post Samsung may be making an improved Snapdragon chip for the Galaxy Z Flip 8 appeared first on SamMobile.
