Three Kerala Congress (KC) members in the Kidangoor grama panchayat council who were expelled from the Kerala Congress for defying party directives and forming an alliance with the BJP have been reinstated in the party.The decision to restore their memberships was announced by Kerala Congress executive chairman Mons Joseph on Thursday (October 9, 2025) after party chairman P.J. Joseph decided to withdraw the disciplinary action taken against them. The members readmitted are former panchayat president Thomas Maliyekkal, Sibi Sibi, and Kunjumol Tomy.Breach of disciplineThey were expelled from the party two years ago for aligning with the BJP to take control of the Kidangoor panchayat contrary to the party’s instructions to work with the Left Democratic Front (LDF) at the local level. This move had been deemed a breach of party discipline.The coalition, however, lost power one and a half years later when a dissenting BJP member switched sides to the LDF. Following this development, the Kerala Congress members severed all ties with the BJP.The party executive chairman said the reinstatement came after the three members assured the party leadership of their commitment to adhere to party policies and discipline.Published - October 09, 2025 06:16 pm IST
