England were so good against Wales that one supporter is blaming Harry Kane. The Three Lions made easy work of their neighbours at Wembley, going 3-0 up just after 20 minutes without the Bayern Munich striker in action.Kane was left out against Wales and one fan thinks he saw a big improvementGetty The friendly cooled off in the second half and captain Kane stayed on the bench, and for talkSPORT caller Ben, that was enough evidence to make the boldest of claims.Speaking after the victory, he said: “This is controversial but I think if you look at the last tournaments he’s played, yes he’s been great, but with our team we’re fast.“We’re young, we’re technical, we’re energetic, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham. I think Kane’s way of playing slows us down.“Yes he’s been brilliant at Bayern and Tottenham and he’s an England legend, I’m not doubting that at all, but just look at Florian Wirtz, great player but doesn’t fit into Liverpool.“Harry Kane… I think we should play with a different type of striker.”Ollie Watkins started the match up front against Wales instead of Kane, who missed out with an injury, and was replaced by Marcus Rashford at half-time.The passing and goalscoring in the opening half hour was crisp and free-flowing, suggesting that Ben may have somewhat of a point.talkSPORT hosts have their say on Harry KaneSports Bar hosts Jason Cundy and Jamie O’Hara weren’t quite having Ben’s argument, though, and they only got more resistant when they asked him who should replace the Bayern striker.“Not even Watkins, Foden, any of them,” he said, and probably instantly regretted it.“You’re going to drop Kane for Foden up top, a position he doesn’t even play?” Cundy questioned. Cundy tried to see the caller’s side of thingsBut O’Hara was speechless“I have to bring you up on this, I don’t mind the conversation about taking Harry Kane out, but you have to find a solution and that can’t be Phil Foden.”Cundy gave Ben a second chance, but when he named Palmer he was told he’d made the ‘same mistake’.Ben explained: “You don’t need the old fashioned traditional striker. He slows up the play, I’m not having a go at him but he does.“You’re saying up front as in a classic striker, I’m saying more the Roberto Firmino type for Liverpool. “[Kane doesn’t do that] at all, he doesn’t drive with the ball, he slows up the play.”Cundy still wasn’t in agreement, citing Kane’s 18 goals in ten games already for Bayern this season. On this season’s form Kane is the best striker in the worldGettyKane is also England’s record goalscorer with 74 in 109 games, with World Cup and Euro Golden Boots among his personal accolades. He explained: “If you’re going to say to me Rashford or Watkins, I can understand the argument, but I don’t think it’s the right call, Harry Kane is the best player in the world right now.”He then got the reply: “No. It’s like saying Erling Haaland is, scoring goals is all he does, that doesn’t make you the best player in the world. All Kane does is tap in goals.”Co-host Jamie O’Hara had then heard enough and interjected: “Tap in goals?! Are you winding me up? Have you seen the goals he scores?”Ben then finished: “His traditional goal is just him in the box, that doesn’t make you the best player in the world scoring a million goals.”O’Hara had clearly heard enough, but Cundy was more keen to find some middle ground.Kane could make way for WatkinsHe added: “I don’t get it. There will be a time when we have to think about England without Kane, but right now Thomas Tuchel knows Kane, he’s worked with him before. Cundy does think there’s an argument to replace Kane when opponents need to be stretchedAFP“Kane is one of the most feared strikers in the world at the moment – factually that’s true – you cannot tell me you’re dropping your captain.“There might be a point in a game where things do need stretching, with half an hour to go you need someone running in behind and you might take Kane off. “I think we’ve got the manager that will be brave enough to do it, but to not start him? I don’t see it.”O’Hara then finished: “If he’s looking slow or tired, take him off fine, but he’s the best striker in the world at the moment, he’s outrageous.”
