Two Maltese citizens have died in a fatal car accident in Sicily on Wednesday afternoon, according to Italian media reports.Radio Una Voce Vicina reported the incident happened at around 3pm on the Catania–Ragusa motorway near Lentini, when a Toyota Yaris with Maltese number plates collided head-on with a truck carrying waste material.Emergency services, including firefighters, Carabinieri, paramedics and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene.Firefighters extracted the two elderly people from the wreckage, but medical officers confirmed they had died on impact.Italian authorities have launched an investigation into the crash, with both vehicles seized on orders from the magistrate in Siracusa.The motorway was closed in both directions to allow emergency responders to secure the road.Cover photo via Radio Una Voce Vicina•
