A sloth bear was reportedly spotted near the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara on Wednesday evening.A resident of an apartment in Choodasandra had captured a video of an animal resembling a bear roaming near the boundary wall of the prison. “I initially thought that the animal in the video was a dog, however it turned out to be a bear,” said the resident.Residents of the locality alerted the Forest Department and prison officials and shared the video with them.A senior Forest Department official said that a video of a bear had been doing rounds. However, he said that its location is yet to be ascertained. “We are not sure if the video was taken today near Parappana Agrahara or somewhere else. We have sent a task force to check and confirm if a bear was sighted around this area,” said the official.He added that there are no forest areas around Parappana Agrahara. “The only forest area close to the location is Bannerghatta and the bear may have ventured from there, but we are not sure,” he added.Published - September 03, 2025 09:21 pm IST
