I used to work barn chores for a friend’s family that had horses in exchange for riding time. My favorite horse I rode back then recently passed at the age of 42. He was still giving kids rides until he was in his early 30s and otherwise had been out to pasture. What a great horse man I miss him. I wish I had the space to take a few older horses for pasture companions. I hate seeing people neglect their older animals.
