In search of the Ultimate Photo Of The Day, I headed to the Ukrainian company Fort’s booth at Enforce Tac 2026. The FORT-230 reminds me of the HK MP, as long as we can settle for 9x19mm. After the brief, I’m quite prepared for my own FORT-230. Fort is a Ukrainian small arms manufacturer established in 1991 to develop weapons for the country’s Interior Ministry, Security Service, and State Border Guard. Building on that background, the company’s latest 9×19 mm submachine gun, the FORT-230, is intended for military and law enforcement applications. The FORT-230 is a compact, blowback-operated platform designed for close-quarters use. It offers both semi-automatic and full-automatic fire, with a cyclic rate of approximately 800 rounds per minute. The weapon feeds from proprietary 20- or 30-round magazines inserted into the pistol grip, contributing to a compact and balanced layout. I don’t have a gun with this type of design, so I’d be happy to try one out. Additional features include a full-length Picatinny rail for optics (here the Aimpoint Micro H-2) and accessories, folding backup sights, and a collapsible stock for improved portability. The muzzle device is configured to accept a quick-attach suppressor. To the best of my knowledge, the suppressor is also made by Fort. The system is designed for engagements out to roughly 200 meters, aligning with its intended role in confined environments. Unfortunately, I don’t think Fort is about to make a semi-automatic, civilian version anytime soon. Would you take a 9mm SMG like the FORT-230 over the H&K in 4.6x30?
