NAIROBI, Kenya Apr 1 – The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has extended the deadline for submission of documents of protests victims for verification to Friday.The Commission further confirmed that its offices will remain open on the same day despite it being a public holiday, to allow members of the public who wish to present their reports to do so at either the Head Office or Regional Offices.The commission also urged affected individuals to reach out to its regional offices for assistance.It further reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accessibility for all victims seeking justice and redress, emphasizing that all reporting channels remain open and active during the verification period.It stated that it has already developed a roadmap and working document guiding consultations with key stakeholders.The Commission also confirmed it is compiling and verifying a list of victims of human rights violations.So far, 1,224 victims have been identified and are undergoing verification based on eligibility criteria.KNCHR has urged victims of human rights violations, including those linked to protests and demonstrations, to come forward and submit supporting documents such as P3 forms, Medical reports, OB reports, Post-mortem reports and Witness statements.The Commission emphasized that proper documentation is essential for verification and eventual inclusion in the compensation framework.
