Blizzard Entertainment is teaming up with WEBTOON for a new webcomic series about Overwatch, aiming to bring more storytelling than ever to fans of the hero shooter. The new webcomic, called Overwatch: Undivided, is just one more part of Blizzard's efforts to continue telling stories within the Overwatch universe, including expanding on the overarching narrative introduced with the game's large-scale update earlier this year.Image via Blizzard Entertainment"In the aftermath of Talon’s strike on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, the heroes of Overwatch take in their devastating defeat," the synopsis reads. "But Vendetta is far from finished, launching attacks around the world on research facilities, military bases, and major cities. As Sojourn rallies the weary heroes to face Talon wherever they strike, she receives crushing news that calls everything she’s stood for into question: When the world says it doesn’t need heroes, can Overwatch still stand, undivided?"Blizzard has made it a point to re-focus on the worldbuilding of Overwatch this year, adding in-game lore tabs where players can follow along with the ongoing plot that took a wild turn in an animated short when Vendetta slayed Doomfist and wrested control of Talon to start a global conflict. This new partnership with WEBTOON furthers that commitment, giving fans more of their favorite characters as the plot moves forward.I don't have much experience with WEBTOON myself, other than my limited knowledge from watching a Korean drama on Netflix earlier this year. But the English-language platform has support for all sorts of stories and comic-like episodic releases for readers to come back to weekly or otherwise.Earlier in the week, Blizzard also announced that Nexon would be handling publishing and live service operations for Overwatch in Korea, so it appears that the region is an important one for the franchise moving into the future. The first episode of Overwatch: Undivided is available on WEBTOON tonight at 7pm CT, and the first three will be free to view. Episodes four through eight will require a Fast Pass subscription. The post Overwatch: Undivided is the latest way Blizzard is investing into storytelling outside of the game with new content partnership appeared first on Destructoid.
