Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen is Netflix’s latest horror offering that fans of the genre have sunk their teeth into. The show’s eight episodes premiered on March 26 and concluded with a bloody ending that has left viewers eagerly wondering if the show could possibly expand upon its plot, despite its limited series run on the streamer. Here’s everything we know about the potential future of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Was Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen renewed for season 2?Not yet, and there’s a chance that it won’t be. Showrunner Haley Z. Boston spoke with ScreenRant and explained that the series was initially meant to have a limited run. “It was conceived of as a limited series, so it is kind of a full story,” she said.In an interview with Deadline, Boston was asked if the show was meant to be “one and done.” She replied, “I mean, it could be.”Is season 2 a possibility? In an interview with Variety, Boston revealed that getting Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen to come back for a second season “would be a great opportunity.”She added, “This story is very personal to me. It came from a real fear of mine, something I was using to explore my own fears. I’ve thought about the show as a potential anthology, and whatever that next existential fear is, I’d need to figure out what to explore there. Horror, to me, runs deep. It allows you to explore taboo subjects and externalize internal fears. I have a lot of fears, so I’m sure there’s more to mine.”What could season 2 be about? In the ScreenRant interview, the showrunner suggested that its limited series format could be turned into an anthology, with a brand-new fear at the core of each season. “I think there's a world where it's a totally different, very bad thing,” she told the outlet. “I'd have to find another existential fear to explore.”In the Deadline interview, she noted that there are some possible opportunities to continue with the original characters, too. “At one point I thought, what if it’s Jude’s wedding in however many years, and Rachel’s still Rachel because she’s immortal? Or Nicky’s next wedding, which she has to come with witness,” she noted. “But I do view it as a complete story in and of itself, as well. So it could go on, and it could just be what it is.”This post will be updated.
