Adam Zampa has opened up about his decision to pick Pakistan Super League (PSL) over Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The Australian leg-spinner, known for his sharp googly and success in international cricket, revealed that he was not heavily pursued by IPL franchises and felt the remuneration did not match the significant time commitment required for the tournament.During an ARY Podcast episode, Zampa explained: “To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, the money just isn’t there compared to what’s available for other skill sets. Considering the amount of time the IPL requires, it didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing.”He added that he “wasn’t really on the radar” of IPL teams this year, leading him to pull out of the mini-auction rather than wait for a potential low-value bid.Instead of participating in the IPL 2026, Zampa joined Karachi Kings in the PSL after being drafted recently. The opportunity came unexpectedly just as he was planning a break from cricket to spend time with family.“I was planning to take a break, but then the PSL came onto the radar about a month ago. It all happened pretty quickly, but I’m enjoying it,” Zampa shared. The move has already paid dividends on the field. Playing for Karachi Kings in PSL 2026, Zampa has made a strong start, picking up wickets economically and contributing to close contests against high-quality bowling attacks. He praised the competitive standard of the PSL, noting that some matches feature bowling units nearly at international level. Zampa singled out Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi for special mention, describing his bowling as exciting and wicket-taking, while also acknowledging his friendship with Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf.
