The IDF says the targeted factory was a critical asset for Iran’s chemical weapons program.By World Israel News StaffThe Israeli Air Force struck a factory used to manufacture compounds for chemical weapons on Tuesday, the IDF confirmed in a media statement. The pharmaceutical factory in Tehran seemingly produced compounds for civilian use, but simultaneously manufactured elements used in chemical weapons development programs by the Iranian military, the Israeli military said. The factory produced fentanyl — an extremely powerful opiate — for Iran’s Ministry of Defense, specifically for its Organization of Defense Innovation and Research (SPND).The IDF stressed that while the facility presented itself as a civilian company, it was in fact a regime asset in disguise.“The Tofiq Daru Company knowingly and systematically supplied this deadly substance [fentanyl] to the SPND…which used it to conduct research and development of chemical weapons,” the IDF said in a media statement. The strike has “impaired the Iranian terror regime’s chemical weapons production capabilities,” the army statement added. The military stressed that it had taken precautionary measures to minimize potential harm to civilians in the area.Since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, the Israeli Air Force has carried out numerous devastating strikes on Iranian facilities, particularly those tied to its defense industry.Israeli operations have destroyed multiple ballistic missile manufacturing sites, as well as factories producing key components required for missile development.Testing sites for ballistic missiles, along with additional manufacturing facilities, have also been targeted by the IDF.During Operation Roaring Lion, the Israel Defense Forces has targeted military airbases across Iran, striking runways, aircraft, drone assets, and fuel depots to reduce the country’s ability to mount an aerial response. The campaign has also hit command-and-control centers associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, disrupting leadership coordination and operational planning. The post IDF strikes Iranian chemical weapons factory, fentanyl supplier appeared first on World Israel News.
