The Forum of Registered Teacher Organisations (FORTO) on Thursday urged the government to establish a statutory authority to address the issues of the government employees, teachers, workers and pensioners. In a statement, the forum’s Chairman Karanam Harikrishna, secretary general Ankala Kondayya and other State leaders said employees working in various departments across the State were facing numerous financial and non-financial problems. To resolve these issues effectively and within a stipulated time frame, there was a need for a legally empowered and accountable system, the statement read. They requested the government to constitute a statutory body headed by the chief secretary as its convenor, comprising three senior Ministers, one retired High Court Judge and two senior IAS officers to grant it a legal status. It was further proposed that the committee should meet in the first week of every month, receive representations from representatives of all employee groups, and take immediate action on the issues raised.‘Quick resolution’They said it was not possible for employees and teachers to directly present their problems to the government. If a statutory mechanism is established, it would provide an appropriate platform for employees to submit their grievances to the government, they explained, adding that such a system would pave the way for quick resolution of issues, resulting in increase in administrative trust and further strengthening of the government-employee relations.Published - April 03, 2026 01:02 am IST
