Heads up: if you’re visiting Walt Disney World Resort next month, you might miss out on some iconic rides at Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Over the last few days, some lucky Magic Kingdom Park guests have encountered a “soft opening” of the Tomorrowland ride, getting to try the enhanced interactive targets, handheld blasters, and a new sequence with a friendly audio-animatronic robot character named Buddy.Still, the Toy Story (1995)-themed attraction isn’t officially scheduled to reopen until April 8, 2026. From April 1 to April 7, only the lucky guests who encounter ride tests will get to experience the refreshed Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.Big Thunder Mountain RailroadCredit: DisneyOver in Frontierland, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has been closed for enhancements since January 2025. Over the last year, crews have completely replaced the steel roller coaster track and installed freshly painted steam train-style ride vehicles. Cosmetic work continues in the queue and other areas surrounding the ride as Walt Disney Imagineers conduct ride tests.When the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness reopens, guests will encounter a brand-new Rainbow Caverns scene with glimmering stalagmites, phosphorescent pools, and audio-animatronic bats. The mountain will begin to grumble and “fight back” against the gold mining operations in the area.Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort has said that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is scheduled to reopen in “spring 2026,” but hasn’t offered an exact date. Guests hoping to ride the Frontierland roller coaster in April 2026 are most likely out of luck.Rock ‘n’ Roller CoasterRock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith permanently closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2, 2026. The closure came after Walt Disney World Resort announced plans to retheme the attraction into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, inspired by the Muppets Mayhem musical series.Credit: DisneyWalt Disney World Resort says the reimagined Sunset Showcase roller coaster will open in “summer 2026,” but hasn’t confirmed an exact date. Unfortunately, the ride won’t reopen in time for families headed to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in April.Wildlife Express TrainFinally, the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has been closed since February.
